So we are going to spruce things up with some mod choices. Feel free to comment on this and vote. There will be a link on the bottom with a google form for each person to fill out.
Super Structures
Overview:
This mod provides additional structures, items, and features that aim to bring quality-of-life to Ark builders and crafters. This mod does contain some automated features but is not dedicated to this idea as a whole.
This mod is not S+. A new developer took over a sidestep version of the July 11, 2019 release of S+, and has maintained this variant of the mod ever since. Updates to S+ since that version release have not necessarily been implemented into SS.
Administrative Impact:
File Size: 127.462 MB
Mod Update Frequency: Potentially Fair. Mod post date of Feb 16, 2020 with 5 updates fixing turnover issues from S+, followed by 2 updates in the last 6 months.
Pros:
1. Additional tools with QOL Functions:
Transfer Gun. Aim at any non-player inventory, Right Click to tag as source, aim at another inventory to set destination, Left Click to instantly transfer all contents to that destination. This works the same as the vanilla Ark feature “Transfer All” and obeys container size/weight limitations of destination.
Euthanasia Gun. Right click to tag a targeted dino, a warning indicator will appear of selected dino, left click to execute.
Pickup Gun. Left click to remote pickup target structure (obeys limitations set on structures such as Mutator), right click to activate Demo Mode with slight delay to prevent oopsies.
2. Remote Pulling of resources to any inventory. Has an independent function in any inventory that requires no engram which provides supplemental functionality to AA’s auto sorting and can compensate for shortcomings such as the inability to remotely pull into a non-AA crafting bench/saddle.
3. Increased Gacha productivity. A Gacha Gavager structure would allow for additional gachas beyond the current limit of two. A Crystal Cracker (which also requires the Item Collector) can be placed to auto gather crystals and pre-crack them for the player.
4. Upgraded and additional versions of general building structures from Thatch to Tek with an additional tier of Glass (toughness equal to metal with greenhouse functionality). Increased functionality includes features like radial options for automatic doors.
5. Upgraded crafting stations and useful structures (primarily in the Tek tier) with QOL functions and additional functionality. This list is long, but for sake of example it includes things as simple as adding additional dermis slots to taxidermy to providing in-game dino scan functions in the Tek Transmitter which would alleviate the need to visit the Almanac when searching for a dino (this item does not replace other Almanac functions).
6. Additional tools with QOL functions such as the Euthenasia Gun (right click selects dino with warning message, left click to execute). Additional functionality to
Cons:
1. This mod is extensive; it implements a high volume of engrams with extensive Ini options. For many, the complexity of this mod might require time and effort in order to become comfortable which may be a deterrent.
2. SS has an association with S+ which made many players unhappy and afraid to work with such a mod ever again. Careful implementation and prior explanation would be required with the possibility of some players choosing to walk away regardless.
3. This is in large part another builder’s mod which means that if it should break or vanish, structures dependent upon it would break as well.
Death Recovery mod
Overview:
Survivor is no longer required to manually retrieve his Death Cache
Pros:
1. Potential reduction in ticket load regarding the loss of items or dinos.
Cons:
1. Removal/reduction of survival aspect in a survival game.
For “normal” Ark, this applies limit to how aware a survivor needs to be of how he/she engages the environment. For Primal Fear Ark, this applies a significant limitation to this consideration as the mode is designed to take the dangers of navigating the Arks to an extreme.
2. Potential for player abuse. Examples could be engaging in high risk activity before reaching the proper stage (suicide run to the Aberration surface or Red Zone) or winning a competition over a valuable resource by crutching preparation with a death recovery option at home.
Player abuse of this kind of system will always exist no matter how it is implemented. Admin restrictions such as cooldown added can still be abused or may simply encourage a player to stop playing until the cooldown is up. The addition of a cooldown will likely see return of unknown percentage of ticket load.
3. Potential impact to retainability of players.
When a mod is removed or added, there is always the potential that some players might leave. However, this particular mod has a passive effect of decreasing thrill aspects as well as value over resources/dinos in normally-dangerous areas. Player turnover will likely be reached once a player no longer feels achievement after acquiring something such as a Rock Drake egg, or no longer feels the thrill of risk when entering a boss arena.
